Operational Audit & SOX Director – ERAC

GE Aerospace seeks an experienced Operational Audit & SOX Director to lead the internal audit and compliance function for Employers Reassurance Corporation (ERAC), the company's life and health reinsurance subsidiary. Based in Kansas City, Jackson County, you'll drive enterprise-wide auditing, internal controls assessment, and financial reporting integrity across a complex, regulated organization. This is a full-time position reporting functionally within GE Aerospace's leadership structure.

About the Role

As Operational Audit & SOX Director, you'll lead a team responsible for comprehensive internal audit coverage, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance, and controls monitoring that protect ERAC's operational, financial, and compliance objectives. You'll design audit strategies, manage testing and monitoring activities, identify control gaps, and work with business and finance leaders to strengthen risk management across the organization. Your work will directly support GE Aerospace's regulatory obligations, financial reporting accuracy, and operational resilience.

What You'll Do

• Develop and execute annual audit plans aligned with enterprise risk assessments and regulatory requirements
• Lead and mentor audit team members; assign fieldwork, review documentation, and ensure quality audit execution
• Design, test, and monitor internal control frameworks across financial reporting, compliance, and operational domains
• Oversee SOX compliance activities, including control design, testing, documentation, and management reporting
• Assess operational and financial risks; advise leadership on control remediation and process improvements
• Prepare audit reports, findings summaries, and executive presentations for senior management and the audit committee
• Collaborate with finance, legal, and business teams to resolve audit observations and strengthen risk posture

What We're Looking For

• 10+ years of internal audit, SOX compliance, or financial controls experience in a regulated or complex organization
• CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), CPA, or equivalent professional certification strongly preferred
• Deep knowledge of SOX requirements, COSO control frameworks, and audit planning and execution
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage competing priorities, and communicate findings clearly to executives
• Experience in reinsurance, financial services, or insurance (preferred but not required)
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to influence change in a matrixed organization
