Odia Transcription Expert – Fully Remote | Upto $12/hr

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential language-technology organization seeking native Odia speakers for remote document annotation and transcription work. You will:

• Source publicly accessible Odia-language PDF documents in assigned categories that contain multimodal elements, and record provenance information
• Annotate document structure by identifying and bounding every meaningful region on each page, assigning component types and reading-order indices
• Record hierarchical relationships by linking each region to parent components such as figures or tables
• Transcribe all text with character-level accuracy in Odia script, including handwritten content, and flag any illegible regions
• Capture page-level metadata including language, document type, source, dimensions, and presence of tables, formulas, or handwriting
• Conduct end-to-end peer reviews of tasks completed by other Odia experts to ensure quality and consistency

What We're Looking For

Must-Have:

• Native Odia speaker with full command of the script and character-level writing accuracy
• Professional experience in annotation, transcription, translation, localization, subtitling, proofreading, journalism, or regional-language data review
• Ability to apply taxonomy systematically and consistently across varied page layouts
• Comfort working with unfamiliar or complex layouts including multi-column newspapers, technical documents, and handwritten forms
• Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to exact reproduction of source material

Preferred:

• Experience with regional-language AI data annotation, labeling, grading, or bilingual evaluation projects
• Background in transcription and localization workflows such as MTPE, subtitling, bilingual QA, OCR correction, or post-editing
• Document production skills including typesetting, copy-editing, proofreading, or digitization of Odia-language materials
• Knowledge of Odia Unicode normalization, input methods, numeral forms, and character-form accuracy
