Network and Computer Systems Admin, Journeyman

Overview

We are representing a confidential government services organization seeking a Network and Computer Systems Administrator at the Journeyman level. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity and security of networked computer systems supporting mission-critical operations. Our client requires an experienced professional who can manage complex patch management processes while ensuring compliance with strict cybersecurity standards.

This is a remote position based in the United States. A Secret Security Clearance is required for this role.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the patch management process across the program, ensuring all desktops, laptops, and remote systems remain current with security patches
• Monitor and verify compliance with federal cybersecurity standards and client security policies across all managed devices
• Provide advanced technical support to end users, IT personnel, and security teams on patch management initiatives
• Plan, schedule, and execute patch deployment activities to minimize operational disruptions while maintaining system continuity
• Develop and enforce standardized procedures and documentation for patch management practices
• Install, configure, and maintain networked computer systems in enterprise environments
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience
• Minimum 4 years of experience in patch management or related IT systems administration role
• Secret Security Clearance required (active clearance strongly preferred)
• Strong understanding of patch management principles and hands-on experience with tools such as Microsoft WSUS or SCCM
• Experience conducting security assessments, audits, and implementing automated patch management solutions
• Proficiency in developing technical documentation and knowledge of data security best practices
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP or CPMP preferred
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills with keen attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to convey technical information clearly
• Proven ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and adapt to changing requirements
• Self-motivated with ability to work independently and collaboratively in team environments
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
