About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential UK cybersecurity consultancy that provides advisory and assurance services to small and medium-sized organizations. Our client is expanding their associate panel of qualified cyber advisors to support practical implementation work across the UK.
This is a flexible, project-based associate role. You'll work on clearly scoped assignments with agreed timelines and day rates. Preparation can be done remotely, with client meetings and occasional site visits throughout the UK as needed.
Responsibilities
- Advise small and medium-sized organizations on practical implementation of Cyber Essentials controls
- Review technical scope including devices, cloud services, user access, firewalls, secure configuration, malware protection, and security updates
- Translate technical findings into clear, proportionate action plans for non-technical stakeholders
- Support clients through remediation planning and implementation evidence gathering
- Facilitate discovery calls, technical workshops, and progress reviews
- Produce concise written recommendations, action plans, and client documentation
- Maintain client confidentiality and follow established quality, security, and conflict management procedures
- Keep advisory work appropriately separated from certification decisions to maintain independence
- Stay current with scheme requirements and complete required inductions and updates
- Collaborate with assessment and assurance teams while preserving assessment independence
What We're Looking For
Essential Requirements:
- Current Certificate of Competence in Cyber Essentials Implementation
- Based in the UK or Crown Dependencies
- Demonstrated practical experience helping SMEs implement Cyber Essentials controls
- Strong working knowledge of current Cyber Essentials requirements and common configurations (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Windows, macOS, mobile devices, firewalls, cloud platforms)
- Ability to explain technical risks and remediation steps in plain English to non-technical audiences
- Excellent client engagement, workshop facilitation, documentation, and project coordination skills
- Willing to provide qualification evidence before interview and complete any required onboarding
- Able to work as an associate contractor with flexibility for UK client site visits
- Clear understanding of confidentiality, data handling, and conflict of interest management
Desirable Qualifications:
- Cyber Essentials Assessor status
- Experience with Cyber Essentials Plus, vulnerability assessments, or technical audits
- Previous work through IASME Certification Bodies or Assured Service Providers
- Experience supporting regulated, public sector, or supply chain organizations

Pay
