Scripps Media is hiring a Multimedia Journalist for our KXXV newsroom in Waco, serving McLennan County and Bell County, Texas. This is a full-time position for someone passionate about community storytelling and broadcast journalism.
About the Role
As a Multimedia Journalist with KXXV, you'll be at the heart of Central Texas news coverage, reporting stories that matter to Waco, Killeen, Temple, and the Fort Hood area. You'll work in a dynamic newsroom environment, developing strong connections within the community while delivering news across multiple platforms. KXXV, part of Scripps Media's network of stations, is committed to telling stories that resonate with our audience and reflect the diversity of our region.
Core Duties
- Investigate, research, and report on news stories across assigned beats in Bell County and surrounding areas
- Conduct interviews with sources and community members to gather reporting material
- Shoot, edit, and produce video content for broadcast and digital platforms
- Write news copy, develop story angles, and craft compelling narratives
- Collaborate with producers and on-air talent to coordinate daily coverage
- Meet daily and weekly deadlines while maintaining journalistic integrity
- Contribute story ideas and engage with viewers across social media and digital channels
What You Bring
- Solid experience in multimedia journalism, broadcast news, or related news reporting role
- Proficiency with video production, editing software, and broadcast newsroom systems
- Strong writing and storytelling skills with an ear for compelling narratives
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple assignments, and meet tight deadlines
- Knowledge of Killeen, Temple, Fort Hood, Bell County, or Central Texas communities is a plus
- Genuine interest in connecting with audiences and serving the communities you cover
