Mental Health Counselor, Successful Families

Crisis Center of Tampa Bay is hiring a full-time, bilingual Mental Health Counselor for its Successful Families program in Tampa, Hillsborough County. About the Role

As a Mental Health Counselor with the Successful Families program, you will provide on-site, bilingual therapeutic counseling to residents and families served by the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay. This full-time, in-person position is based in Tampa and centers on supporting individuals coping with trauma, abuse, distress, and other difficult life circumstances.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver bilingual, one-on-one and family-focused therapeutic counseling services to program participants.
• Support clients facing trauma stemming from sexual assault or abuse, domestic violence, financial hardship, substance use, medical emergencies, suicidal ideation, and emotional or situational struggles.
• Develop, document, and maintain individualized treatment plans and progress notes in line with agency standards.
• Collaborate with program staff and community partners to connect families with appropriate resources and continued care.
• Foster a safe, respectful, and culturally responsive environment for every client served.

Qualifications

• Fluency in two languages, enabling effective bilingual counseling with a diverse client population.
• Background in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related mental health discipline.
• Experience providing therapeutic support to individuals and families coping with crisis or trauma.
• Strong listening, assessment, and documentation skills paired with sound clinical judgment.
• Availability for full-time, on-site work in Tampa, Hillsborough County (this is not a remote position).
