About the Role
As a Remote Material Engineering / Material Science Expert with Turing, you will contribute specialized domain knowledge in materials engineering and materials science to help advance how AI models reason about technical subject matter. Based out of Renton, King County, you will collaborate with researchers and engineers to translate real-world materials expertise into structured, high-quality inputs that strengthen AI capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply your materials science and engineering knowledge to develop, review, and refine technical content used in AI training and evaluation.
- Craft accurate problem sets, explanations, and solutions grounded in established materials engineering principles.
- Assess model outputs for scientific correctness and provide detailed, expert feedback.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to define quality standards for materials-related data.
- Document reasoning clearly so that complex materials concepts are captured precisely.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in material engineering or materials science, typically supported by an advanced degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong command of core concepts such as material properties, characterization, processing, and failure analysis.
- Excellent written communication, with the ability to explain technical ideas clearly and accurately.
- Attention to detail and a rigorous, evidence-driven approach to evaluating technical work.
- Comfort working independently and collaborating with distributed research teams.
