Bay Area Hospital District seeks a full-time Medical Physicist - Oncology in the US to lead radiation therapy physics operations at our Bay Area Cancer Center. In this day shift role, you will ensure treatment accuracy and patient safety while collaborating with oncologists and clinical staff to advance precision cancer care.
About the Role
As a Medical Physicist - Oncology, you serve as a clinical physics leader responsible for the safety, accuracy, and efficacy of all oncology treatments delivered across our cancer center. You'll work collaboratively with radiation oncologists, medical dosimetrists, and clinical teams to advance patient outcomes and institutional excellence in radiation therapy.
What You'll Do
- Design, validate, and oversee radiation therapy treatment plans using advanced planning systems and imaging modalities
- Conduct comprehensive quality assurance testing of linear accelerators, imaging equipment, and treatment planning systems
- Calculate and verify patient dosimetry for external beam radiation therapy and brachytherapy procedures
- Ensure compliance with NRC regulations, state licensing requirements, and AAPM clinical practice guidelines
- Participate in physics rounds and tumor board discussions to optimize treatment protocols
- Train and mentor clinical dosimetrists and junior physicists on treatment planning workflows and physics principles
- Stay current with emerging radiation therapy technologies and advancing clinical protocols
What We're Looking For
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Medical Physics, Physics, or related field
- Certification by the American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP) or eligibility to pursue certification
- Professional license as a Medical Physicist (state-specific requirements vary)
- Demonstrated expertise with radiation therapy treatment planning systems and imaging software
- Strong knowledge of radiation safety, dosimetry, and regulatory compliance
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interdisciplinary team environments
- Commitment to patient safety and continuous quality improvement
