Medical Laboratory Science Program Chair (Open Rank)

Baptist is seeking a Medical Laboratory Science Program Chair (Open Rank) to lead the educational program in Memphis, Shelby County. This is a full-time leadership position that combines strategic oversight, academic excellence, and institutional responsibility.

About the Role

As Program Chair, you will provide comprehensive leadership and strategic direction for all aspects of the Medical Laboratory Science educational program. Working under the Academic Dean, you'll oversee program development, curriculum quality, student success, and operational effectiveness. Your role includes significant responsibility for program compliance, faculty oversight, and ensuring the program meets institutional and accreditation standards. You'll also serve as a Campus Security Authority (CSA), meaning you'll have designated responsibility for addressing reports related to student conduct, campus safety, and criminal matters that may involve students or employees.

What You'll Do

• Lead all aspects of program operations, from curriculum design to student outcomes assessment
• Manage program budget, resources, and staffing within Academic Affairs guidelines
• Recruit, hire, mentor, and evaluate faculty and laboratory personnel
• Ensure program quality, relevance, and alignment with accreditation requirements
• Foster student success through academic support, professional development, and mentoring
• Serve as Campus Security Authority with responsibility for student and employee conduct reports
• Represent the program to accrediting bodies, external partners, and the broader institution
• Collaborate with hospital laboratories, healthcare partners, and professional organizations

What We're Looking For

• Advanced degree in Medical Laboratory Science, clinical laboratory science, or related field
• Minimum 5–7 years of professional experience in clinical laboratory settings or medical laboratory education
• Proven leadership experience in program administration, curriculum development, or institutional management
• Strong knowledge of laboratory accreditation standards (NAACLS, CAP, or equivalent)
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated commitment to student success and educational excellence
