About the Role
As a Middle School History Teacher at Promise Academy II, you'll shape how students understand and engage with the past. Working full-time at our top-performing charter school located at 35 East 125th Street in New York, you'll inspire critical thinking, foster intellectual curiosity, and help students see the relevance of history to their lives and communities.
What You'll Do
- Design and deliver engaging history lessons that connect historical concepts to students' lives and current events
- Create a classroom environment where students feel safe exploring complex topics and asking thoughtful questions
- Develop and implement formative and summative assessments that measure student understanding and growth
- Use varied instructional strategies and resources to reach students with different learning styles and needs
- Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to integrate history and strengthen student achievement
- Build positive, respectful relationships with students and families to support their development
- Contribute to the school's mission of preparing students for college, career, and engaged citizenship
What We're Looking For
- A strong background in history or social studies with experience teaching middle school students
- Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex concepts clearly and accessibly
