About the Role
As a Respiratory Care Practitioner with Northwestern Medicine in Kane County, you'll be an essential member of our clinical team, providing specialized respiratory care and support to patients across our facility during evening and overnight hours. You'll work alongside physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive the highest standard of respiratory treatment.
What You'll Do
- Manage patient airways and administer respiratory therapies using advanced ventilators and specialized equipment
- Monitor and assess patient respiratory status, including oxygen saturation and blood gas values
- Perform chest physiotherapy, bronchial hygiene treatments, and aerosol medications
- Assist physicians with intubation and airway management procedures
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records and respiratory care documentation
- Respond to patient deterioration and participate in emergency respiratory interventions
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes
- Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain respiratory care equipment and devices
What We're Looking For
- Current state license or certification as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work independently during night shifts while maintaining excellent patient care
