About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential data science platform organization during an exciting period of expansion. Following recent acquisitions, our client is consolidating their pre-sales engineering function under unified leadership for the first time. They're restructuring their sales engineering team into pods aligned with their sales organization, and they need a leader who can build the operating model from the ground up.
As Manager of Sales Engineering, you'll lead a growing team of sales engineers across the US and EMEA, set new standards for excellence, and become the primary bridge between the sales organization and technical solutions team during this pivotal growth phase.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of sales engineers across the US and EMEA, hiring multiple new team members and establishing performance standards
- Build new sales engineering programs and product lines from scratch that enable the sales organization to demonstrate platform value
- Foster deep integration with sales pods through aligned team structure, regular collaboration, and shared accountability for deal velocity
- Channel technical feedback from customer conversations to product engineering teams, ensuring field insights shape product direction
- Establish standards for technical excellence while developing business acumen and customer engagement skills across the team
- Create sales enablement content including technical demonstrations, videos, and blog posts
- Manage cross-functional relationships with sales leadership, marketing, and product engineering to ensure alignment
- Set team direction and operating rhythms that balance technical rigor with high-velocity enterprise sales requirements

- Experience managing complex cross-functional relationships, particularly between technical and commercial organizations
- History of hiring, mentoring, and developing senior engineers with focus on both technical excellence and business skills
- Demonstrated ability to operate in fast-paced, high-growth environments where priorities shift and ambiguity is common
Preferred qualifications:
- Leadership experience with sales engineering teams at companies selling technical products to data science, AI, or engineering buyers
- Hands-on experience with data science tooling, AI platforms, or developer infrastructure products
- Experience with environments spanning cloud, on-premises, and Kubernetes deployment models
- Commercial experience from customer success or sales roles that bridges technical and business perspectives
- Success in startup or high-growth environments with rapid iteration based on feedback
- Background with open-source companies or developer-focused platforms where technical credibility is essential
- Commitment to fostering inclusive environments where people of all backgrounds can flourish
