M&A Strategy & Governance Senior Consultant

Deloitte is hiring an M&A Strategy & Governance Senior Consultant for our Strategy & Transactions team in Detroit, Wayne County. This is a full-time position for experienced professionals who guide Fortune 500 and mid-market companies through high-stakes corporate transactions and complex governance challenges.

About the Role

You'll serve as a trusted strategic advisor to C-level executives navigating mergers, acquisitions, and organizational transformation. Working across the full transaction lifecycle—from pre-deal planning through post-merger integration—you'll combine transaction expertise with governance framework design, functioning as both deal specialist and organizational architect for our most important clients.

What You'll Do

• Lead comprehensive M&A advisory engagements including strategy development, target identification, and transaction structuring
• Conduct detailed due diligence investigations and build governance frameworks aligned with client risk tolerance and deal characteristics
• Develop financial models, valuation analyses, and return-on-investment assessments to drive client decision-making
• Design post-merger integration strategies focused on value capture and organizational alignment
• Partner directly with C-suite executives to clarify strategic objectives, refine transaction scope, and ensure deal success
• Identify operational synergies, cost optimization opportunities, and efficiency improvements within transaction context
• Support broader business design, restructuring, and transformation initiatives beyond deal mechanics

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in M&A advisory, corporate development, transaction consulting, or related strategy roles
• Proven track record developing due diligence frameworks, conducting valuations, and building governance structures
• Strong financial modeling and analytical capability; comfortable constructing complex scenarios and stress-testing assumptions
• Ability to build credibility with senior executives and navigate politically nuanced client environments
• Strategic thinker with demonstrated execution discipline and attention to operational detail
• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, economics, or related discipline; MBA preferred
