Key Responsibilities
- Monitor patients in immediate post-anesthesia recovery, assessing airway, breathing, and hemodynamic stability
- Record and report vital signs, oxygen saturation levels, and clinical changes requiring intervention
- Administer pain management and anti-nausea protocols according to physician orders
- Maintain IV lines, urinary catheters, and other post-operative medical equipment
- Document comprehensive patient assessments and nursing interventions in the electronic health record
- Communicate with surgical, anesthesia, and medical staff to coordinate safe patient transitions
- Provide discharge education to patients and families regarding post-operative expectations
- Maintain PACU readiness by preparing the environment and equipment for incoming patients
Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Prior PACU or acute care nursing experience preferred
- Solid understanding of post-operative nursing protocols and anesthesia recovery principles
- Strong clinical assessment and interpersonal communication abilities
- Capability to function independently in high-acuity, fast-paced settings
- Availability to work scheduled night shifts
