Lead Mobile Engineer – React Native

Our client is embarking on an ambitious mobile transformation, rebuilding their mobile application from the ground up using modern technology and AI-assisted development practices. As Lead Mobile Engineer, you will own the complete mobile rebuild—from architecture and tooling decisions through to CI/CD setup and App Store deployment. You'll work at the intersection of React Native expertise and cutting-edge AI development tools to accelerate delivery while maintaining the highest quality standards. This role offers genuine technical leadership and the chance to scale mobile capabilities far beyond the current feature set.

Responsibilities

• Lead the complete rebuild of existing native mobile applications using React Native, starting from a clean slate
• Design and implement scalable mobile architecture that supports performance, maintainability, and future growth
• Establish the full CI/CD pipeline for mobile—automated builds, testing, distribution, and store deployment workflows
• Leverage AI-powered development tools (such as code generation assistants and copilot-style workflows) to accelerate development cycles and elevate code quality
• Define mobile engineering standards including code structure, testing strategy, release management, and application monitoring
• Partner with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver exceptional mobile user experiences
• Progressively expand mobile functionality beyond the current scope, bringing additional platform capabilities to mobile users
• Mentor and guide mobile team members as the team scales
• Stay current with React Native ecosystem developments, mobile platform updates, and emerging AI tooling

What We're Looking For

Experience Requirements:

• 8+ years of professional mobile development experience
• Proven expertise as a React Native specialist with deep ecosystem knowledge—navigation, state management, native modules, and performance optimization
• Demonstrated success bootstrapping mobile projects from scratch: architecture decisions, CI/CD configuration, and production store deployment
• Track record shipping production mobile applications on both iOS and Android platforms
• Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools in real projects

Technical Expertise:

• Expert-level proficiency in React Native and TypeScript
• Strong understanding of native mobile platforms (iOS/Android) including native bridging when required
• Solid experience configuring and managing mobile CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Fastlane, Bitrise, or GitHub Actions
• Experience implementing automated testing strategies for mobile—unit, integration, and end-to-end testing
• Familiarity with mobile performance profiling, crash reporting, and monitoring solutions
• High standards for code quality, comprehensive testing, and technical documentation

Leadership & Collaboration:

• Ability to take complete ownership of a technical domain and drive autonomous decision-making
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical trade-offs clearly to both engineering and non-technical audiences
• Experience mentoring developers and establishing engineering best practices within teams
