Kindergarten Teacher

Yukon Public Schools invites applications for a Full-Time Kindergarten Teacher to join our dedicated teaching team in Yukon, Canadian County. This is an opportunity to shape young learners' foundational academic and social-emotional skills while fostering their natural curiosity and love of learning.

Position Summary

As a Kindergarten Teacher with Yukon Public Schools, you'll create a nurturing classroom environment where five- and six-year-old students develop intellectually, emotionally, and psychologically. Reporting to the school principal or assistant principal, you'll guide children through their earliest formal educational experiences, establishing patterns of engagement, cooperation, and enthusiasm that prepare them for future academic success. This full-time position plays a vital role in building the foundation for lifelong learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with state standards and district curriculum
• Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that supports all learners
• Assess student progress through observation, formal assessments, and ongoing monitoring of academic and social-emotional development
• Implement evidence-based instructional strategies for early literacy, numeracy, and foundational skills
• Manage classroom behavior and routines with consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement
• Communicate regularly with families about student progress, strengths, and areas for growth
• Collaborate with colleagues, specialists, and support staff to meet diverse student needs
• Participate in professional development and contribute to school and district initiatives

Qualifications

• State teaching certification as required by Oklahoma certification authorities
• Early Childhood certification or endorsement (preferred)
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with young children and families from diverse backgrounds
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive learning community
