About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential insurtech company that is transforming how insurance technology serves brokers and customers across Canada. They are building an innovative AI-powered product line that automates manual workflows and delivers intelligent, data-driven insights.
As a Junior Software Engineer, you'll contribute across the full stack—from frontend interfaces to backend services to AI/ML integrations. You'll work with Python, React, Redux, PostgreSQL, n8n, LangChain/LangGraph, and AWS, collaborating closely with senior engineers experienced in production AI systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop full stack features for AI-powered web applications using Python, React, Redux, PostgreSQL, and AWS
- Integrate AI models and APIs for document processing, data extraction, and recommendation capabilities
- Build scalable backend services that power AI workflows
- Create intuitive user experiences that surface intelligent features
- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and release planning
- Take ownership of features end-to-end once ramped up, coordinating with QA and cross-functional teams
- Stay current on emerging AI technologies and explore new applications
- Engage in company-wide initiatives including hackathons, engineering guilds, and quarterly planning
What We're Looking For
- Strong full-stack development skills with Python, React, Redux, PostgreSQL, and AWS
- Familiarity with AI/ML concepts from coursework, side projects, or professional experience
- Hands-on experience with AI APIs or models (prompt engineering, integration work)
- Self-starter mindset with eagerness to learn and embrace ambiguity in a rapidly evolving field
- Collaborative team player with low ego, open to feedback and helping others succeed
- Detail-oriented problem solver comfortable working in complex domains
- Passion for building intelligent applications that solve real-world problems
- Authorized to work in Canada
