Interpreter (OPI & VRI – Legal)

Prisma International, Inc. is hiring an Interpreter (OPI & VRI - Legal) to provide remote interpretation services for legal proceedings in Pierre, South Dakota and surrounding areas. This is a contract position offering flexibility to qualified interpreters ready to deliver accurate, confidential interpretation across phone and video platforms.

Role Overview

As a Legal Interpreter specializing in over-the-phone interpreting (OPI) and video remote interpreting (VRI), you'll bridge communication between legal professionals, clients, and parties who speak different languages. You'll work on demand from your home office, interpreting for depositions, court proceedings, legal consultations, and related matters. Your accuracy, professionalism, and discretion are essential to ensuring fair legal processes and protecting client interests.

Core Duties

• Provide accurate, consecutive or simultaneous interpretation for legal proceedings via phone and video
• Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with legal ethics and interpreting standards
• Interpret legal terminology and complex procedural language with precision
• Document session details and manage administrative requirements
• Communicate clearly with legal professionals to ensure understanding and accuracy
• Meet scheduling demands and respond promptly to assignment requests

Who We're Looking For

• Certification or significant professional experience in legal interpretation
• Bilingual fluency in English and at least one additional language commonly used in legal settings
• Deep knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and contextual nuances
• Reliable internet connection and professional setup for remote work
• Strong listening, communication, and time-management skills
• Commitment to professional conduct, confidentiality, and ethical standards
• Ability to work independently and manage variable scheduling
