Interpreter – Legal/Courts (Oregon)

Prisma International, Inc. is seeking an experienced Interpreter - Legal/Courts (Oregon) to provide professional interpretation services in a remote contract capacity. This role is critical to ensuring clear, accurate communication in Oregon's legal system.

What This Role Involves

As a legal and court interpreter for Prisma International, you'll bridge language barriers in court proceedings, depositions, hearings, and related legal settings throughout Oregon. Working remotely on a contract basis, you'll collaborate with attorneys, judges, court personnel, and litigants to ensure precise, impartial interpretation while maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of all proceedings.

Responsibilities

• Provide consecutive and simultaneous interpretation services during court proceedings, depositions, and legal consultations
• Interpret with accuracy and impartiality, adhering to Oregon court protocols and professional ethical standards
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding case information and all sensitive materials discussed
• Prepare for assignments by reviewing case materials and relevant legal terminology in advance
• Communicate clearly with judges, attorneys, and court officials regarding interpretation needs and requirements
• Participate in remote appearances via video conference or court-call systems as needed
• Track and document billable hours and services delivered according to contract terms

Skills & Qualifications

• Professional fluency in English and at least one additional language relevant to Oregon court services
• Current certification or demonstrated expertise in legal and court interpretation
• Strong command of Oregon court procedures, legal terminology, and judicial processes
• Ability to interpret accurately under pressure while maintaining composure and neutrality
• Excellent listening, comprehension, and communication skills
• Reliable internet connection and professional workspace suitable for remote court participation
• Commitment to upholding ethical standards and professional confidentiality obligations
