This full-time role puts you at the center of strategy, shopper insight, and customer partnership for one of the world's leading beauty and personal care portfolios.

About the Role

As Sr. Category Manager, Beauty & Personal Care, you will serve as a trusted category expert and strategic advisor to retail customers, converting growth strategies into actionable channel and customer plans. Partnering with Sales, Category Strategy, Shopper Marketing, CMI, and CS&P, you will use data and analytics to shape assortment, merchandising, pricing, and promotion decisions that grow the category and elevate the shopper experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and deploy customer-level category growth strategies that ladder up to broader business goals, identifying whitespace across assortment, pricing, and shelf.
  • Develop trusted-advisor relationships with retailer buyers and merchandising teams, leading category reviews and contributing to line reviews and joint business planning.
  • Craft fact-based, insight-led sell-in stories that influence retailer decisions and future multi-year growth space.
  • Lead planogram development and shelf optimization, advising on flow, space allocation, and assortment, including reset, cut-in, and on-site set room support.
  • Track category and brand performance using POS, panel, and shopper data, flagging risks and opportunities and building action plans to close gaps.
  • Support execution of resets, innovation launches, and merchandising programs while safeguarding the accuracy of category tools and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret POS, panel, and shopper data.
  • Talent for translating insights into persuasive, customer-facing stories.
  • Strategic thinking grounded in a deep understanding of category drivers.
  • Effective stakeholder management and the ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Clear, confident communication with internal and external partners, plus sharp attention to detail across competing priorities.
  • Willingness to travel for set room activity and retailer relationship management, and readiness to manage and coach team members.

What people say about Unilever

Recent coverage focuses on strategy and capital markets more than culture: reports on a large food-deal dispute involving investor Terry Smith, World Cup brand investment aimed at “desire at scale,” and activist interest tied to Unilever food transactions. Older Hacker News threads (e.g. Ben & Jerry’s ownership) are sparse and not a reliable pulse on current employee sentiment.
