About This Position

As an Independent Insurance Claims Adjuster, you'll investigate and settle insurance claims involving property damage, liability, and other covered losses. You'll conduct on-site inspections, interview claimants and witnesses, review supporting documentation, and prepare comprehensive claim assessments. This is hands-on work requiring sound judgment, professional communication, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple active cases.

Responsibilities

• Investigate claims by inspecting property damage, gathering evidence, and interviewing involved parties
• Review policy documents and determine claim eligibility based on coverage terms
• Estimate repair and replacement costs using industry valuation methods
• Document findings through detailed written reports, photographs, and claim summaries
• Negotiate claim settlements with claimants and service providers
• Maintain organized records and ensure regulatory compliance with Virginia requirements
• Manage multiple claims efficiently while meeting established timelines

What We're Looking For

• Virginia independent insurance adjuster license or path to licensure
• Proven experience investigating insurance claims
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical and documentation abilities
• Reliable transportation and availability to travel within Christiansburg and Montgomery County
• Professional judgment and ability to work independently under deadline pressure
