About the Role

This In-House Geosteering Geologist position places you on an operator campus in Midland, TX, working a 2-weeks-on / 2-weeks-off rotation as a full-time Impac Exploration Services employee. Reporting to the Geosteering Director, you will sit at the center of active Permian drilling operations, applying your geological expertise to keep horizontal wellbores precisely within the target zone.

Key Responsibilities

• Geosteer horizontal wells in real time while embedded on the operator's Midland campus.
• Interpret logging-while-drilling and geological data to guide wellbore placement within the intended formation.
• Collaborate closely with the operator's drilling and geology teams throughout each campaign.
• Coordinate with and report to the Geosteering Director on well progress and steering decisions.
• Maintain continuous coverage across the 2-week-on rotation to support around-the-clock drilling activity.

Qualifications

• Background in geology, geosciences, or a closely related discipline.
• Hands-on geosteering experience, ideally within Permian Basin or comparable unconventional plays.
• Proficiency interpreting subsurface and drilling data to inform steering decisions.
• Willingness to work an embedded, on-site rotation in Midland, TX (this is not a remote position).
• Strong communication skills for partnering with operator teams and reporting to the Geosteering Director.
