About the Role
As a Mental Health Counselor at Glenmore Manor, you will serve in a combined Case Manager and counseling capacity, helping residents navigate the challenges that accompany housing instability. Based on-site in Brooklyn, you will work directly with clients affected by issues such as homelessness, domestic violence, HIV/AIDS, mental illness, and substance use, connecting them to the resources and support they need to move forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver mental health counseling and case management services to residents at Glenmore Manor
- Assess client needs and develop individualized support and service plans
- Connect clients to housing, healthcare, employment, and community-based resources
- Provide guidance to individuals coping with domestic violence, substance use, HIV/AIDS, and mental health concerns
- Maintain accurate case notes and documentation in line with program requirements
- Collaborate with program staff and community partners to coordinate ongoing care
Qualifications
- Background in social work, counseling, psychology, human services, or a closely related field
- Experience in case management or mental health counseling, ideally within a nonprofit or social services setting
- Understanding of the issues facing individuals experiencing homelessness and related hardships
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Commitment to serving diverse Brooklyn communities with empathy and respect
