McHenry Community High School District 156 is hiring a full-time Groundsman to maintain and enhance the grounds and landscapes across our district facilities in McHenry, McHenry County. This year-round role offers the opportunity to take pride in keeping our school environments safe, attractive, and well-maintained for students and staff.
About the Role
The Groundsman position is a full-time, year-round opportunity reporting to the Director of Buildings and Grounds. You'll work Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (hours may vary at the director's discretion), with the ability to travel throughout the district as needed. This is a Facilities & Grounds Level 2 position with an immediate start date, prorated based on your hire date.
What You'll Do
- Maintain grounds, landscaping, and outdoor areas at district facilities
- Perform lawn care, landscape upkeep, and seasonal maintenance
- Keep athletic fields, parking areas, and grounds in safe, presentable condition
- Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment
- Support the facilities team in preparing grounds for events and activities
- Travel across district locations as assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds
- Follow all safety and district policies
What We're Looking For
- Experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or similar facilities work
- Ability to perform physical work and operate groundskeeping equipment
- Reliable attendance and commitment to a full-time, year-round schedule
- Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining quality grounds
- Ability to follow directions and work as part of a facilities team
- Willingness to travel throughout the district
