Position Summary
The Food Service Substitute role is a full-time position supporting daily meal operations across McHenry Community High School District 156. Working under the direction of the Director of Food Services, you'll be assigned to either the Upper or Freshman Campus based on operational needs. This position offers consistent work at $16.00 per hour with daily schedules ranging from 4 to 8 hours. Please note that this position is not eligible for benefits.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve meals and snacks according to district nutritional standards and recipes
- Maintain food service equipment and ensure proper sanitation and food safety protocols
- Assist with inventory management, food storage, and ordering as directed
- Work cooperatively with the food service team to meet meal service deadlines
- Adapt quickly to changing daily assignments and campus locations
- Maintain a calm, professional, and pleasant demeanor while interacting with students and staff
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing work environments and assignments
- Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor while working with students and staff
- Commitment to following food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
