About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential European compliance automation firm seeking a GRC Specialist (German-speaking) to join their remote team across the EMEA region. This role is critical to scaling their compliance delivery function as they expand into new frameworks and mid-market customers.

Our client automates security compliance, helping organizations achieve and maintain certifications like ISO 27001, GDPR, TISAX, and SOC 2. This position sits at the intersection of compliance delivery, content creation, and customer enablement—with direct influence on how compliance is delivered both as a service and through their platform.

Location: Remote from the UK, Germany, Austria, Poland, or Serbia
Language requirement: C1/C2 German and fluent English are essential

Responsibilities

You will own the quality and breadth of the compliance offering, including:

• Building and maintaining compliance frameworks in the platform (ISO 27001, TISAX, SOC 2, GDPR, NIS 2, DORA, ISO 27017/27018, ISO 42001, C5, and more)
• Owning internal audits for customers end to end, from kickoff through to final reporting
• Managing multiple concurrent audits while keeping all projects on schedule
• Implementing ISO 27001 and adjacent frameworks end-to-end for customers
• Creating and maintaining compliance content including policies, automated checks, evidence templates, playbooks, and security awareness training materials
• Closing framework gaps and incorporating auditor feedback into both team practice and platform improvements
• Partnering with product and engineering to translate compliance requirements into structured development work
• Collaborating closely with customer success, product, and leadership teams to align priorities
• Deepening relationships with certification partners and training auditors on platform usage

What We're Looking For

Must-have qualifications:

• German at C1/C2 level and fluent English
• 3+ years of hands-on information security and GRC experience
• Led at least 1 successful ISO 27001 certification project as an implementer and/or auditor at a startup or mid-market company
• Run at least 2 internal audits previously
• Hands-on experience with GRC platforms
• Real depth in at least one framework beyond ISO 27001 (TISAX, SOC 2, GDPR, NIS2, or similar)
• Strong project management skills with ability to break down ambiguous initiatives into concrete deliverables
• Excellent written communication, particularly in producing clear compliance content for diverse audiences (auditors, founders, engineers)
• Strong ownership mindset and ability to operate independently
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience

Bonus qualifications:

• Experience mentoring or coaching colleagues in compliance, audit, or GRC contexts
• Startup environment experience
• PECB ISO 27001 Lead Auditor certification or direct equivalent
