About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential game development studio in Canada seeking a talented Game Designer to join their team. As part of a global network, our client partners with studios worldwide across multiple genres and platforms. This is an exciting opportunity to flex your design skills across an ever-changing landscape of projects while collaborating with teams around the globe.
This is a remote, full-time permanent position open to candidates residing in Ontario, Québec, or British Columbia. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada and reside in one of these provinces.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal and external teams across multiple disciplines to achieve exceptional player experience goals
- Conceptualize, document, and ideate levels, spaces, missions, and gameplay experiences
- Work with a variety of game technologies, systems, and platforms
- Execute grey-boxing, pacing design, layout beats, scripting, encounters, and gameplay implementation
- Conduct testing, debugging, level performance optimization, and streaming improvements
- Craft environmental storytelling, world building, tone, setting, and art propping
- Manage and maintain design work and documentation throughout the development cycle
- Actively contribute to pipeline improvements and support team growth
- Serve as a source of knowledge and mentorship to other team members
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- 4+ years of professional experience in game design, level design, and mission design within production environments
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across internal and external teams as a strong team player
- Pro-active problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to see issues through to resolution
- Excellent active communication skills and consistent follow-through
- Experience conceptualizing, developing, and shipping levels and missions from start to finish
- Strong sense of 3D game space, pacing, flow, immersion, player motivation, and aesthetics
- Solid understanding and comfort with technical concepts, logic, and logic flow
- Strong working knowledge of Unreal Engine and its development environment
Nice to Have:
- Experience with multiple game engines and toolsets
- Background in other development roles such as Production, Engineering, Art, or QA
- Experience developing networked games and cooperative multiplayer experiences
- Proficiency with Maya, 3ds Max, or equivalent 3D software
- Console development experience

Pay
