About the Role
As a Safety Support Associate, you'll be a key member of our Interim Housing team, ensuring a secure and supportive environment for program participants, staff, and visitors. Working Monday through Friday from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, you'll combine vigilant site monitoring with compassionate crisis response, using proven de-escalation techniques and collaborative problem-solving to address safety challenges as they emerge.
What You'll Do
- Monitor interim housing facilities and grounds through regular rounds, observing and documenting any safety concerns or facility issues
- Build productive relationships with program participants to promote mutual accountability and maintain a culture of safety
- Collaborate with onsite case managers and contracted security personnel to coordinate safety and support services
- Respond to security incidents and crisis situations using non-violent crisis intervention and verbal de-escalation strategies in a team approach
- Support the Associate Director by preparing written reports and documentation related to site safety and security
- Contribute to developing safety protocols, procedures, forms, and operational manuals for interim housing services
- Participate in team meetings to provide feedback and insights on safety and support operations
What We're Looking For
You bring strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to think critically under pressure. You communicate clearly both verbally and in writing, collaborate effectively with diverse teams, and demonstrate initiative and ethical judgment. Preferred candidates have at least one year of experience working with vulnerable populations, in security roles, or in crisis intervention and de-escalation settings.
We welcome candidates at all experience levels. All staff must be able to obtain CPR/First Aid certification (company-paid), pass background screening and drug testing, and maintain current tuberculosis testing. Flexible scheduling availability is required; driving is not an essential function of this role.
