Maximus is hiring a Federal Marketing Principal Specialist to join its team in James Island, Charleston County — a senior-level opportunity to shape marketing strategy across the Defense, National Security, and Space sectors for one of the nation's leading government services firms.

About the Role

As a Federal Marketing Principal Specialist at Maximus, you will own end-to-end go-to-market planning for critical federal verticals. You will connect complex technical capabilities to the mission priorities of government decision-makers, driving measurable pipeline growth through disciplined, insight-led marketing programs.

What You'll Do

• Build and execute integrated marketing plans — developed on annual and quarterly cycles — targeting Defense, National Security, and Space sector audiences
• Design and run demand generation programs that create qualified pipeline for strategic franchise opportunities
• Lead account-based marketing (ABM) initiatives aligned to key government accounts and procurement cycles
• Distill sophisticated technical service offerings into clear, mission-relevant value propositions for federal stakeholders and contracting audiences
• Collaborate with business development, capture, and proposal teams to align marketing activity to active pursuits and recompetes
• Track and report on campaign performance metrics, continuously refining programs based on pipeline contribution and engagement data
• Coordinate across internal subject matter experts, creative resources, and agency partners to deliver on-message content and campaigns

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrated experience developing B2G (business-to-government) or federal marketing strategies, particularly within Defense or National Security markets
• Hands-on proficiency with account-based marketing frameworks and demand generation tactics in long-cycle, relationship-driven sales environments
• Ability to translate technical IT, consulting, or program-management capabilities into compelling narratives for government buyers
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills — comfortable working alongside capture managers, proposal writers, and executive stakeholders
• Experience managing marketing programs from strategy through execution, including planning, budgeting, and performance measurement
• Familiarity with federal procurement processes, GovCon competitive landscapes, or defense acquisition cycles is a strong plus
