About the Role
As an Art Teacher with RYSS Texas Public Schools, you'll serve students across our district, delivering comprehensive visual arts instruction that develops critical thinking, cultural awareness, and artistic expression. This full-time certified instructional role reports to the building Principal and is part of the Raul Yzaguirre Schools for Success (RYSS) division, which operates under the umbrella of the Tejano Center for Community Concerns. You'll be responsible for creating an inclusive, engaging classroom environment where students of all abilities can grow as artists.
What You'll Do
- Develop and deliver standards-aligned art instruction across multiple grade levels and ability levels
- Design meaningful lessons that incorporate diverse artistic traditions, techniques, and media
- Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet individual learning needs
- Manage classroom materials, equipment, and studio space safely and efficiently
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate arts across the curriculum
- Communicate regularly with families about student progress and classroom activities
- Participate in professional development and school-wide initiatives
What We're Looking For
- Valid state teaching certification in Art or Visual Arts
- Strong knowledge of art history, techniques, and creative practices
- Proven ability to engage diverse learners and differentiate instruction
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- Commitment to inclusive education and student-centered teaching
- Experience or willingness to work with various art media and materials
