About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential venture-building platform focused on DeepTech and science-based startups across Europe. This Director-level role sits at the intersection of venture capital, company-building, and industrial partnerships. You will work directly with ambitious founders who are commercialising breakthrough technologies—helping them scale from early validation to category leadership.

This is a senior operating role for someone who understands what it takes to build globally competitive DeepTech companies: market ambition, repeatable go-to-market models, institutional fundraising, and strategic industry partnerships. You will lead a multidisciplinary team, manage a portfolio of high-potential ventures, and help shape the future direction of a leading European acceleration platform.

Location: Hamburg, Germany. Hybrid working with one shared office day per week.

Responsibilities

• Own the performance and growth trajectory of a portfolio of ambitious DeepTech ventures, ensuring program quality, measurable impact, and disciplined execution
• Challenge founders on the fundamental choices that determine scale: market positioning, business models, value propositions, commercial strategies, and international growth paths
• Help startups move from early validation to repeatable customer demand, scalable go-to-market strategies, and revenue traction
• Drive commercial and industry partnerships: customer pilots, venture-client collaborations, licensing models, joint development agreements, and strategic alliances
• Support institutional fundraising by strengthening financial models, cap tables, investor narratives, data rooms, and equity stories
• Set clear milestones for each venture and continuously assess whether they are on the fastest credible path to commercial scale
• Lead and develop a venture-building team; coordinate across platform functions to maximise value creation
• Activate a network of investors, corporates, industry experts, and senior operators to accelerate venture growth
• Secure new sponsorships, partnerships, and revenue opportunities for the platform itself

What We're Looking For

• Substantial professional experience in venture capital, entrepreneurship, venture-building, strategy advisory, or a fast-scaling technology company—ideally with direct exposure to building, financing, or scaling ambitious ventures
• Deep understanding of DeepTech commercialisation challenges and the ability to bridge science, technology, industry, and capital
• Proven track record working closely with founders through critical company-building stages: commercial scale-up, institutional fundraising, international expansion, or market category creation
• Strong proficiency with business plans, financial models, cap tables, market analyses, due diligence materials, and investor narratives
• Demonstrated success helping startups translate strategy into traction: customers, industry partnerships, pilots, and scalable go-to-market models
• Strategic judgement combined with a hands-on, founder-facing mindset; comfortable challenging founders on ambition, priorities, and difficult decisions
• Established network of investors, industry partners, and senior operators that you can mobilise to accelerate ventures
• Experience leading teams, projects, or portfolios with clear accountability, quality standards, and effective delivery culture
• Excellent communication skills across audiences: founders, executives, investors, scientists, and external partners in international contexts
• Fluent in English; German language skills highly desirable

Bonus qualifications:

• Practical exposure to patents, intellectual property strategies, licensing, or technology transfer
• Experience with industrial pilots, venture-client models, joint development agreements, or other startup–industry collaboration frameworks
• Familiarity with public grants, non-dilutive funding, or blended financing strategies
• Experience scaling your own startup
