Director of Student Accounts

About the Role

As Director of Student Accounts, you'll manage all aspects of student billing, accounts receivable, and payment processing while reporting directly to the Controller. You'll supervise a team of four professionals—one Accountant and three Account Technicians—establishing operational standards, developing financial policies, and ensuring accurate, timely billing that supports student success.

What You'll Do

• Oversee student account management, billing cycles, and accounts receivable operations
• Lead payment processing systems and reconciliation procedures
• Manage student inquiries, billing disputes, and account adjustments with attention to service quality
• Collaborate with Financial Aid, Admissions, and Registrar offices to ensure seamless financial operations
• Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Monitor budgets and manage departmental resources effectively
• Train, mentor, and evaluate your team to maintain service excellence
• Ensure compliance with institutional policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years in accounting, student finance, or higher education financial operations
• Proven leadership experience managing accounting or finance teams
• Strong command of accounting principles and financial reporting
• Experience with student account systems, billing software, and payment processing platforms
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail
• Professional communication abilities and commitment to student-centered service
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's preferred)
