Director of Security Operations, Remote

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential healthcare technology organization in their search for a Director of Security Operations. This is a remote position based in the United States, reporting to senior technology leadership.

We are seeking a highly technical security leader who will oversee the daily operations of the security operations center (SOC) and manage a team of security professionals. You'll be responsible for developing and implementing security policies, incident response protocols, and security monitoring strategies while delivering high business impact across multiple projects of increasing complexity.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Security Operations Center (SOC) operations and manage a team of security professionals
• Develop and implement comprehensive security policies, incident response protocols, and monitoring strategies
• Lead incident response efforts and threat management initiatives to protect organizational assets and data
• Balance short and long-term business impact through strategic risk management approaches
• Manage vulnerability assessment programs and security monitoring operations
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements including GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI DSS
• Anticipate industry AI and AIOps trends to optimize automation, log ingestion, and threat response
• Set clear, aggressive goals for the security team and remove roadblocks to achievement
• Collaborate cross-functionally with partners across multiple departments and functions
• Drive excellence in security processes and systems organization-wide

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (Master's degree preferred)
• Minimum 10 years of experience in security operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role
• Proven experience managing a SOC and leading incident response efforts
• Strong understanding of security technologies including SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, firewalls, and vulnerability management tools
• Experience with regulatory compliance requirements (GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS)
• Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations and manage multiple priorities

Preferred Skills:

• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive, forward-thinking approach
• In-depth knowledge of security frameworks and standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS Controls
• Experience building and developing high-performing security teams through strategic hiring and actionable feedback
