UNC-Chapel Hill is seeking an experienced Director of Research Administration to lead the management of complex contracts and research agreements that power multi-institutional clinical trials. About the Role

As the Director of Research Administration at UNC-Chapel Hill, you will oversee the entire lifecycle of sophisticated contracts and research agreements. From initial negotiation through final close-out, you will ensure that agreements supporting collaborative clinical trials are executed accurately and on schedule, balancing institutional priorities with regulatory expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct the full lifecycle of complex contracts and research agreements that underpin multi-institutional clinical trials.
• Manage both pre-award and post-award activities for contracts and grants, ensuring accuracy at every stage.
• Coordinate the timely drafting, review, and execution of agreements such as subcontracts and related research instruments.
• Maintain rigorous compliance with applicable policies, regulations, and sponsor requirements.
• Partner with internal teams and external collaborators to keep agreements moving and stakeholders aligned.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in research administration, including contract and grant management across pre- and post-award phases.
• Working knowledge of clinical trial agreements, subcontracts, and the requirements of multi-institutional partnerships.
• Strong grasp of research compliance standards and regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills for working with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
• Proven ability to manage competing deadlines and complex documentation with precision.
