What This Role Involves
As Director of Development for Athletics Advancement at the University of Oklahoma Foundation, you'll serve as a key leader in the athletics advancement team, reporting directly to the Assistant Athletics Director. Your primary focus is building and nurturing relationships with major donors and philanthropic partners who support the university's athletics programs. You'll manage a dynamic portfolio of donors committed to gifts of $25,000 and above, working strategically to increase support across all athletics department priorities.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategies to secure major and philanthropic gifts supporting athletics department objectives
- Cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with major donors and prospective supporters
- Manage a portfolio of major donors contributing $25,000 or more to athletics initiatives
- Collaborate with athletics leadership to identify funding priorities and strategic opportunities
- Create compelling case statements and proposals that align donor interests with university athletics needs
- Monitor donor engagement and retention metrics to maximize long-term support
What You Bring
- Proven experience in major gift fundraising or athletic program development
- Demonstrated success building relationships and closing significant gifts
- Strategic thinking about institutional priorities and donor alignment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple donor relationships and initiatives simultaneously
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in advancement and development
