Director Environmental, Health and Safety

GAF is seeking a Director of Environmental, Health and Safety to lead our operations in Huber, Bibb County. This full-time leadership role is critical to advancing workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental stewardship across our facilities and teams.

About the Role

As Director of Environmental, Health and Safety, you will develop and execute comprehensive safety and environmental strategies that protect our workforce, safeguard operations, and ensure adherence to all applicable regulations. You will champion a culture where safety and environmental responsibility are embedded in every decision we make, reporting directly to senior leadership and partnering with operational teams across the organization.

What You'll Do

• Create and implement environmental, health, and safety programs aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements
• Establish safety metrics, conduct risk assessments, and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce incidents and environmental impact
• Ensure full compliance with OSHA, EPA, state, and local regulations; manage audits, inspections, and corrective action plans
• Develop and deliver training programs to build safety awareness and competency across all levels of the organization
• Investigate incidents and near-misses, document findings, and implement preventive measures
• Lead the environmental management system, including waste management, emissions control, and sustainability initiatives
• Collaborate with facilities, operations, and human resources to integrate safety into business processes
• Build and mentor an EH&S team, fostering accountability and continuous professional development

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental science, engineering, or a related field
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Occupational Safety Specialist (COSS), or equivalent professional certification preferred
• 7+ years of environmental, health, and safety experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
• Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA regulations, EPA standards, and environmental compliance frameworks
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence behavior across all organizational levels
• Proven track record of reducing incident rates and building positive safety cultures
• Experience in manufacturing, construction, or industrial operations a strong advantage
