Avalere Health is seeking a full-time Client Services Director in Medical Communications for a position based in the United States. Role Overview

As Client Services Director within our Medical Communications division, you'll hold comprehensive account responsibility for major client relationships spanning commercial, educational, and medical affairs initiatives. This leadership position bridges account management with team oversight, positioning you as a trusted strategic partner to both clients and internal stakeholders. Your focus will be shaping how healthcare organizations approach scientific engagement, educational delivery, and digital innovation while building and developing teams capable of executing integrated solutions in regulated healthcare environments.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Direct account strategy across large-scale commercial and promotional medical education programs, ensuring client objectives align with organizational delivery models and growth opportunities
  • Manage execution of multidisciplinary scientific communication initiatives with attention to regulatory compliance and quality delivery
  • Provide strategic counsel on medical congresses, scientific exchanges, digital engagement platforms, and publication strategies
  • Proactively assess account performance and health, identifying challenges and opportunities before they escalate
  • Foster and guide high-performing account teams, coaching emerging leaders and strengthening commercial and strategic capability
  • Cultivate and deepen senior-level client partnerships through consultative engagement and innovative solution development
  • Champion new service offerings and integrated engagement models to expand account scope and client value
  • Support forecasting, account planning, and commercial optimization to fuel sustainable revenue growth

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in medical communications, healthcare communications, or life sciences agency environments
  • Extensive background managing commercial and promotional medical education projects with demonstrated understanding of regulatory compliance and industry frameworks
  • Proven success leading large, multidisciplinary scientific communication programs from planning through delivery
  • Strong track record of organic account expansion, new business development, and proposal success
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing and advising on integrated communications approaches, including education programs, congress strategy, digital solutions, and omnichannel engagement
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation capabilities with proven ability to influence and build trust with executive-level stakeholders
  • Strategic mindset combined with strong commercial understanding—including value creation, margin analysis, and negotiation dynamics
  • Proven leadership capability in recruiting, developing, mentoring, and scaling account teams
  • Bachelor's degree required; life sciences, healthcare, business administration, or related field preferred
