Dietary and Food Cook

Sevita's NeuroRestorative program in Garden Grove, Orange County is seeking a full-time Dietary and Food Cook to play a hands-on role in the daily wellbeing of individuals receiving rehabilitation and residential support services.

About the Role

As a Dietary and Food Cook at our Garden Grove location, you will prepare nutritious, high-quality meals for residents and program participants living with brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and other medically complex conditions. Your work directly supports recovery and quality of life — making this far more than a typical kitchen position.

What You'll Do

• Prepare and cook meals according to planned menus, dietary guidelines, and individual nutritional needs
• Follow portion control standards and safe food-handling procedures at all times
• Accommodate medically prescribed diets, texture modifications, and documented food allergies or restrictions
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment in compliance with health codes and facility standards
• Monitor food inventory, assist with ordering supplies, and minimize waste
• Collaborate with dietitians, nursing staff, and care teams to ensure meals align with each resident's care plan
• Document meal service, refrigeration temperatures, and other required records accurately
• Support a respectful, person-centered dining experience for all individuals served

What We're Looking For

• Prior experience in food service, institutional cooking, or a healthcare kitchen setting preferred
• Knowledge of safe food preparation, storage, and sanitation practices
• Ability to read and follow standardized recipes and modified-diet instructions
• Comfort working in a residential or clinical environment that serves individuals with disabilities or complex medical needs
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to manage time effectively during meal service periods
• ServSafe certification or equivalent food handler's credential (or willingness to obtain)
• Compassionate, team-focused approach to working alongside care staff and residents
