About the Role

As a Deputy Juvenile Officer, you'll serve on the front lines of Jackson County's juvenile justice system. Working within the Office of Juvenile Officer, you'll screen and evaluate young people and their families during their earliest interactions with the court, providing thorough assessments that inform judges' decisions and shape rehabilitation pathways. Your work requires flexibility to work overnight and weekend hours, ensuring consistent support for youth entering the system at all times.

What You'll Do

• Screen and assess youth and families at the initial stage of court involvement
• Conduct comprehensive evaluations of each young person's placement and rehabilitation needs
• Develop evidence-based recommendations for interventions, services, and appropriate placements
• Document findings in clear, detailed reports for judicial review and court action
• Communicate assessments and recommendations to judges, court staff, and other professionals

This full-time position is based in Kansas City, Jackson County. The Deputy Juvenile Officer role is classified at paygrade C-109 with an hourly rate of $20.79 to $25.98. The position requires availability for overnight and weekend hours to support ongoing court operations and youth services.
