What This Role Involves

As a Customer Experience Representative at our Waterloo location, you'll be the friendly face behind the counter and throughout our store. Every shift offers the chance to engage with a diverse community of customers—from children browsing picture books to business professionals seeking bestsellers—and help them find products that matter to them. This part-time position is ideal if you enjoy dynamic retail environments where no two customers are quite the same, and where genuine helpfulness makes a real difference.

Core Duties

• Greet customers warmly and provide knowledgeable assistance with book, music, gift, and merchandise selections
• Process transactions accurately and efficiently at the point-of-sale system
• Answer customer questions about product availability, store events, and policies with confidence and professionalism
• Resolve customer concerns or complaints in a calm, solutions-focused manner
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming store environment
• Support stocking, shelving, and merchandising displays as needed
• Handle cash, card payments, and gift card transactions with accuracy

What You Bring

• Strong communication skills and a genuine interest in helping others
• Experience in customer service, retail, or a hospitality setting is preferred
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift items up to 20 pounds occasionally
• A reliable, punctual approach to your part-time schedule
• Basic computer literacy and comfort learning point-of-sale systems
• Patience, empathy, and problem-solving abilities when challenges arise
• A positive attitude and enthusiasm for creating great customer experiences
