Customer Collections Specialist (Remote)

Prime System Solutions is hiring a Customer Collections Specialist (Remote) based in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa. Join our team on a full-time, remote basis to manage customer accounts, recover outstanding payments, and maintain positive client relationships whilst meeting collection targets.

About the Role

As a Collections Specialist, you'll be the key point of contact for customers with overdue accounts. Working remotely from Johannesburg, you'll drive payment recovery through professional, solution-focused conversations whilst upholding Prime System Solutions' reputation for integrity. You'll balance persistence with empathy, negotiate payment arrangements, and document all interactions meticulously to ensure compliance and continuity.

Responsibilities

• Contact customers with outstanding invoices via phone, email, and other channels to request payment
• Investigate disputed charges, clarify billing issues, and resolve customer concerns
• Negotiate and arrange payment plans for customers unable to pay in full
• Process payments and update account records accurately in our systems
• Monitor account ageing reports and prioritise high-value or high-risk accounts
• Maintain comprehensive records of all collection attempts and outcomes
• Escalate complex cases or non-responsive accounts to senior management as required
• Meet monthly collection targets and report on performance metrics
• Collaborate with sales, accounting, and customer service teams to resolve disputes

• Proven experience in collections, credit control, or customer account management
• Excellent communication skills—confident handling difficult conversations professionally
• Strong organisational and time-management abilities
• Comfortable using CRM and accounting software systems
• Attention to detail and commitment to accurate record-keeping
• Problem-solving mindset and resilience in a target-driven role
• Reliable internet connection and a distraction-free home workspace (for remote work)
• Understanding of South African credit and debt collection regulations is advantageous
