Commercial Data Scientist

PortSwigger is seeking a Commercial Data Scientist to join its team in Knutsford, England. This full-time position offers the opportunity to apply advanced analytical skills to drive business value and inform strategic decision-making across the organisation.

As a Commercial Data Scientist at PortSwigger, you will translate complex data into actionable business insights that shape company strategy. You'll work at the intersection of data analysis, business acumen, and analytics engineering, partnering with commercial teams to identify opportunities, quantify impact, and guide investment decisions. Key Responsibilities

• Analyse commercial datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and opportunities that inform revenue strategy and customer acquisition
• Build predictive models and statistical analyses to forecast business outcomes and evaluate commercial scenarios
• Develop dashboards and reporting infrastructure to provide visibility into key business metrics and performance indicators
• Partner with cross-functional teams across sales, marketing, and product to design experiments and validate hypotheses
• Communicate findings to stakeholders at all levels, translating technical work into clear business recommendations
• Maintain data pipelines and ensure data quality standards across commercial systems

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Data Scientist or in a commercial analytics role, ideally in a software, SaaS, or technology environment
• Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, or R for data manipulation, analysis, and modelling
• Solid understanding of statistical methods, experimental design, and causal inference
• Experience with data visualisation tools and building self-service analytics platforms
• Ability to work with large datasets and familiarity with cloud-based data infrastructure
• Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to influence non-technical stakeholders
• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (mathematics, statistics, engineering, computer science, physics, or related discipline), or equivalent professional experience
