About the Role
As a full-time Cognitively Impaired Teacher with Forest Hills Public School District, you will guide special education students toward meaningful academic and personal growth. Reporting to the Building Principal and working alongside the special education supervisor, you'll design and deliver instruction tailored to each student's individual needs in a supportive Grand Rapids classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and lead specialized instruction for students with cognitive impairments
- Develop individualized learning goals and adapt lessons to varied ability levels
- Track student progress and adjust teaching strategies to promote ongoing achievement
- Collaborate with the Building Principal, special education supervisor, and support staff
- Foster an inclusive, encouraging classroom that helps every learner thrive
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to required educational documentation
Qualifications
- Valid Michigan teaching certification with the appropriate Cognitive Impairment (CI) endorsement
- Experience or training in special education instruction and individualized planning
- Strong commitment to student success and equitable learning outcomes
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with colleagues and families
- Ability to create and sustain a structured, nurturing learning space
