About the Role

As a Buyer II at Brookhaven National Laboratory, you will work within the Business Services Directorate (BSD), the team responsible for delivering dependable business and procurement support to the Lab's research programs. Based in Mount Upton, Chenango County, this on-site position places you on cross-functional teams where careful purchasing decisions directly support cost management and risk mitigation across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage purchasing activities that supply the Laboratory's research initiatives with the goods and services they need.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to balance cost control with the operational needs of scientific programs.
• Support risk mitigation efforts throughout the procurement process.
• Coordinate with colleagues across the Business Services Directorate, including budget and fiscal services functions.
• Help ensure purchasing practices align with the Lab's standards for quality and accountability.

Qualifications

• Experience in buying, purchasing, or procurement consistent with a Buyer II level role.
• Strong attention to detail and a practical understanding of cost management.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
• Willingness to work on-site in Mount Upton, Chenango County (this role is not remote).
