Cloud (Senior) Engineer / Architect (m/ w/ d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential technology consultancy seeking a Cloud Engineer or Architect to join their growing team in Köln. In this role, you will:

• Analyze and design modern cloud architecture solutions for enterprise clients
• Design and operate tailored solutions in cloud and hybrid environments, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
• Evaluate existing application landscapes, architect migration paths to cloud platforms, and execute implementations
• Develop CI/CD pipelines and microservices alongside project teams
• Ensure security, stability, and compliance of IT infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code practices
• Take ownership of build, staging, deployment, and release management processes
• Provide consulting to clients both remotely and on-site

What We're Looking For

Our client requires a professional with strong cloud engineering credentials:

• Completed degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or comparable IT qualification with at least 3-5 years of professional experience
• Deep expertise in cloud development and architecture using microservices on Kubernetes/OpenShift platforms
• Strong knowledge of networking and storage for hybrid and cloud-native environments
• Hands-on experience with DevOps/GitOps/CI/CD tooling including GitHub, GitLab, CircleCI, or Tekton
• Proficiency in software engineering with Java/Kotlin and frameworks such as Quarkus, Spring Boot, or Micronaut
• Experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures
• Demonstrated success using Infrastructure as Code and automation tools including Ansible, Terraform, Linux/Bash, and Python
• Quality-focused mindset with strong hands-on approach
• Passion for advancing technologies and methodologies
• Excellent presentation and communication abilities
• Fluency in both German and English (minimum C1 level written and spoken)
• Team-oriented with strong initiative and motivation to take ownership
