About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential healthcare technology organization building a vertically integrated digital health platform. Our client is assembling a senior leadership team to scale their multi-brand ecosystem, and we're searching for their first Chief Product Officer to define and lead product strategy across the entire portfolio.

This is a foundational executive hire. You'll build the product discipline from the ground up—establishing what gets built, for whom, and in what order—across consumer telehealth brands, a provider-facing electronic health record launching this year, clinical pharmacy services, and the shared patient platform that connects them all.

The role operates with a clear division of responsibility: the CTO owns supply (architecture, engineering, data infrastructure, security, delivery), while you own demand (user problems, product strategy, roadmap prioritization, discovery, and outcomes). You'll be peers at the executive table, both reporting to the CEO.

AI is central to this role. Our client's technology organization is investing heavily in AI and data platforms. They need a CPO who is the demand-side counterpart—an AI-native product leader who decides which AI capabilities become real products for patients and clinicians, designs them to earn trust, and runs the product organization with AI woven into discovery, prototyping, research, and measurement.

Responsibilities

  • Product Strategy: Own product strategy for each business unit and the overall portfolio. Champion a connected-system approach with unified patient identity across brands rather than isolated silos. Prioritize across the portfolio based on value and outcomes, not just bandwidth or politics.
  • Product Discovery: Install product discovery as standard practice—continuous customer and provider interviews, prototype testing, and validated problem definition before significant build begins. Require major initiatives to carry discovery artifacts that drive prioritization decisions.
  • Design & User Research: Build the design, user research, and design-system disciplines the organization needs. Own accountability for genuine usability across patient, provider, and pharmacist experiences. Advocate for users when speed competes with quality.
  • Outcomes & Analytics: Own outcome metrics over output metrics—subscription retention and activation in consumer brands, provider activation and retention on the EHR, medication adherence, and patient experience scores. Stand up product analytics as a distinct discipline with event-level instrumentation and experimentation capabilities.
  • Healthcare Product Leadership: Ensure provider workflows are mapped, observed, and prototyped before production. Own the provider activation funnel end to end. Set strategy for AI features touching patients and clinicians, including ambient documentation for the EHR. Design clinical-engagement layers that turn medication fulfillment into chronic-disease management. Own the strategic decision of whether the platform becomes one connected patient experience or separate products.
  • AI-First Organization: Treat AI as a core design surface. Set strategy for AI capabilities—triage assistants, ambient documentation, adherence agents, decision support—partnering with technology leadership who owns the underlying platform. Match oversight levels to risk. Run the product function with AI built into how the team works. Ensure AI features are trustworthy by design with clear reasoning and human override.
  • Team Building: Build the product organization from scratch—hiring, leveling, career paths for product managers, designers, and researchers. Develop existing talent into senior leaders. Partner deeply with the CTO on delivery. Serve as the bridge between executive strategy and product execution, reporting outcomes at the board level.

What We're Looking For

Required Experience:

  • 12+ years in product roles, with 5+ years as an executive product leader (CPO, SVP/VP of Product, or equivalent) at a digital health, healthtech, regulated-SaaS, or enterprise-technology company
  • Track record building and scaling multi-product or platform-based ecosystems, not just single product lines
  • Direct experience in regulated environments (healthcare strongly preferred; fintech or similarly regulated industries considered), including HIPAA, telehealth, FDA, or clinical-safety contexts
  • Credible range across both consumer DTC subscription product (acquisition, activation, retention) AND provider/clinical-facing product (clinical workflow, provider adoption)—deep expertise in one required, demonstrated range into the other essential
  • Proven partnership with CTO/engineering leadership with a clear demand-vs-supply working model
  • Experience standing up product discovery, design, user research, and product analytics as disciplines—having built the function, not inherited it
  • Demonstrated experience shipping AI-powered product features, ideally including LLM and agentic-AI use cases, with clear point of view on oversight, safety, and trust in regulated settings

Essential Skills:

  • Strategic thinker who turns vision into evidence-based, prioritized roadmaps and says "no" effectively
  • Deep product-led-growth orientation; fluent in retention, activation, cohort, and funnel analysis
  • Builder's instinct for design and user research quality with judgment to maintain standards under pressure
  • Influence-first operator comfortable leading shared functions across autonomous business units without relying on positional authority
  • AI-native in how you work and lead—you use AI tools fluently and expect your team to; energized by organizations going all-in on AI
  • Strong business and commercial acumen; able to tie product investment to revenue, margin, and enterprise value
  • Excellent communication and executive presence; calm and clarifying in ambiguity and high growth
