Bengali Document Specialist – Fully Remote | Upto $12/hr

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential AI research organization seeking Bengali Document Specialists for a fully remote contract role based in India. Our talent team is building a pipeline of native Bengali speakers with annotation and transcription experience to support large-scale multilingual document processing.

Responsibilities

• Source publicly accessible Bengali PDFs in assigned document types that contain multimodal elements such as images, tables, diagrams, or handwriting, and record provenance
• Annotate document structure by identifying and bounding every meaningful region—titles, headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, figures, captions, formulas, questions, and answer fields—and assign component types with reading-order indices
• Record hierarchical relationships by linking regions to parent components such as figures or tables
• Transcribe all text exactly as it appears in Bengali script, including handwritten content, and flag illegible regions
• Capture page-level metadata including language, document type, source, dimensions, and presence of tables, formulas, or handwriting
• Peer-review annotation work completed by colleagues to ensure end-to-end quality

What We're Looking For

Must-Have:

• Native Bengali speaker with complete command of the script, diacritics, and conjunct forms
• Professional experience in annotation, transcription, translation, localization, subtitling, proofreading, journalism, or regional-language data review
• Character-level accuracy—precision with diacritics and script details is essential
• Ability to apply a consistent taxonomy systematically across hundreds of pages
• Comfort working with varied document layouts including multi-column newspapers, exam papers, and handwritten forms

Preferred:

• Experience in regional-language AI data work: annotation, labeling, grading, or bilingual evaluation for training datasets
• Background in transcription and localization: MTPE, subtitling, bilingual QA, OCR correction, or post-editing
• Document production experience: typesetting, copy-editing, proofreading, or digitization of Bengali-language materials
• Knowledge of Unicode normalization, Bengali input methods, and numeral-form or character-form accuracy
