About this role & career path
Typical path: admissions counselor or visit-experience roles → senior counselor / assistant director → associate director with event portfolio. Higher-ed admissions rewards relationship skills, event ops, and data-aware enrollment work; growth may lead to director-level admissions or enrollment management.
Build the skills for this role
Build strength in:
- Admissions counseling and CRM/application workflows
- Campus event design, logistics, and vendor/volunteer coordination
- Public speaking and family-facing hospitality
- Project planning, calendars, and cross-team communication
- Enrollment goals literacy (funnels, yield, visit conversion)
No required cert list was provided for this role family.
Prepare examples of complex events you ran end-to-end, how you balanced counselor caseloads with logistics, and how you handled last-minute visit changes. Be ready to discuss Kenyon’s size, liberal-arts mission, and how you’d design visits that feel personal for ~1,800-student scale.
Strong fit if you enjoy student-facing admissions work plus hands-on event coordination in a residential liberal-arts setting. On-site Gambier work and seasonal peak visit calendars are central; less ideal if you want fully remote work or pure desk strategy without hospitality ops.
