About the Role
AWS is transforming how organizations access computing infrastructure, storage, and digital services globally. As a commercial real estate attorney on our legal team, you'll advise business and operations leaders on property matters while ensuring legal compliance and protecting Amazon's interests across the real estate portfolios that support our expanding cloud infrastructure and offices worldwide.
What You'll Do
- Counsel AWS business teams on commercial real estate transactions, leases, and property acquisitions
- Negotiate, draft, and review commercial lease agreements and real property contracts
- Advise on facility expansion and data center site selection across multiple jurisdictions
- Ensure compliance with applicable real estate laws, zoning regulations, and environmental requirements
- Support landlord-tenant matters, property rights issues, and real estate disputes
- Collaborate with finance, operations, and business development on real estate strategy and risk management
- Conduct legal research and provide analysis on complex property matters affecting AWS operations
What We're Looking For
- Juris Doctor degree and bar admission in at least one US state
- Professional experience in commercial real estate law, corporate transactions, or related practice areas
- Strong proficiency in lease negotiation, contract drafting, and property law analysis
- Exceptional legal writing, research, and problem-solving abilities
- Demonstrated capacity to manage multiple matters with tight deadlines
- Clear communication skills with lawyers, executives, and business partners
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
