Applied AI Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential AI product organization building proactive, intelligent applications for global users. Our talent team is searching for an Applied AI Engineer based in Germany who can bridge the gap between cutting-edge machine learning capabilities and production-ready features that work reliably in the real world.

This is not a research role—you'll be shipping AI features end-to-end, from model behavior design through to user-facing systems. You'll work at the intersection of ML, systems engineering, and product development, ensuring AI performs consistently beyond demos and prototypes.

Responsibilities

• Build and deploy complete AI features spanning model integration, system architecture, and user experience
• Design and refine prompts, agent workflows, memory systems, and tool integrations
• Transform raw model outputs into structured, predictable, and reliable behaviors
• Debug issues across the entire stack including models, orchestration layers, infrastructure, and UX
• Optimize production systems for latency, cost efficiency, and reliability
• Develop lightweight evaluation frameworks to measure real-world performance and accuracy
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to solve ambiguous problems with working technical solutions
• Ensure ML models in production meet accuracy, latency, and reliability targets
• Build robust, reproducible data pipelines, training loops, and inference systems

What We're Looking For

• Strong foundation in machine learning and modern neural network architectures
• Hands-on experience training, fine-tuning, or deploying ML models in production environments
• Ability to write clean, production-quality code—primarily in Python
• Experience with PyTorch or JAX
• Familiarity with LLMs (OpenAI-style APIs, LLaMA, Qwen, or similar models)
• Knowledge of inference and serving frameworks such as vLLM
• Experience working with vector databases
• Comfort operating across multiple abstraction layers from model behavior through infrastructure to product
• Strong problem-solving skills in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
• Bias toward shipping, iteration, and continuous improvement based on real-world signals
• Ability to bring structure, exercise independent judgment, and execute autonomously
